Paddle for Promise 2.0!
New for 2019!
Join us for a whole new Paddle for Promise as we bring back a classic event on the Delaware: the circumnavigation of Petty’s Island on June 22, 2019.
The three hour paddle (yes, just three hours!) will start and end at Wiggins Marina in Camden. Fifty fundraising paddlers will paddle in five-25’ voyageur canoes (see picture below). UPT will have one 25′ voyageur canoe to share with 10 paddlers! #teamtrenton needs to be at Wiggins Marina by 7:15am, in the water by 8:15am, circumnavigate Petty’s Island and return by 11:45am with a celebratory lunch ending no later than 1pm.
We are bringing back this once historic event circling the island that will soon be a nature preserve and highlight the Back Channel and the confluence of the Cooper and Delaware Rivers where UrbanPromise youth lead paddling tours throughout the summer.
This year, we’re paddling so that UrbanPromise Trenton can reach over 150 of children and youth through high impact summer camp programming! We have a fundraising goal of $10,000!
UPT is fielding one team of 10 paddlers-#teamtrenton! As of May 1, we have six of the ten paddlers and we will paddle and fundraise as a team! Our team will reach out to friends and family to meet our fundraising goals!
Want to donate to our Paddle for Promise or join #teamtrenton? It’s easy…just go HERE.
UrbanPromise will provide all logistical support for the event. Paddlers must be able to: swim well, be comfortable on the water, paddle for two hours with no breaks at a moderate quick pace, and be able to climb in and out of the boats. People with range of motion limitations or lasting injuries (ex. bad back) should not participate.
