So many volunteers & donors…so much love!

SummerCamp would not be the same without the AH-MAY-ZING support of our volunteers who offer our campers awesome fun experiences as part of their day at camp. Each week, campers from all three sites- Camp Truth, Camp Promise & Camp Grace- spend time with volunteers who give of their time and energy to enhance their camp experience. And when we say so much love- we mean it! We created this slideshow to share all the wonderful experiences the volunteers shared with our campers.

Trinity Church hosted a week at Camp Promise featuring lessons on peace, flower planting and a puppet show! It was a HOT week, but Trinity volunteers made it work. St. Matthew volunteers provided afternoon programming for Camp Grace.

Bucks AIR shared their gifts and skills with campers at all of our camps. Artists shared music, dance and art with the campers who soaked up all the great artistic energy.

Our StreetLeaders enjoyed cooking with Marcia Willsie and friends. It is awesome to see 30 teens working together in the kitchen! Volunteer Sharon Speiser taught a life skills class to our teens. They found out that “adulting” takes planning and hard work!

Junior StreetLeaders learned about self-care and self-esteem from the awesome Praise Consulting team, Dennie Higgins & Michelle Worthington. Our FanFavorite, LaKeisha Sutton, hosted a basketball camp for aspiring basketball players. Junior StreetLeaders spent five weeks with Dr. Phil Lewis studying metaphysics…too deep for our teens- no way! Dr. Lewis is great a connecting with teens and shares complex ideas in a relatable way. Princeton High Debate Team engaged Jr. StreetLeaders in a rousing debate forum, while WomanSpace shared information on safe dating.

TMPC  & Chesterfield Baptist hosted a week of camp! TMPC brought arts, crafts, a lesson about nutrition with students from Rowan College, and a trip to the NJ State Museum! Our friends from Chesterfield Baptist, led by Linda Haver, challenged our campers with some great STEM activities.

New to our campers this summer, volunteers Ms. JoAnn and Ms. Janet from Woodside Church, spent a wonderful week at Camp Grace creating whole afternoons based on storybooks which included a craft, food and more.

Our favorites ladies from New Jersey Storytellers shared a wild and fun week at Camp Promise, creating a performance piece based on art created by campers. There are so many ways to experience a book!

We had some great support with our summer snacks too! Thanks to Central Church in Ewing, Rose and Greg Cooper, Kingston United Methodist Church, Dave and Hope Anderson & Pennington Presbyterian Church made sure our campers enjoyed healthy snacks on hot summer afternoons.

Once again, all our campers spent some time at Trenton Circus Squad. This is one of their favorite trips of the year. Master Gardeners of Mercer County in collaboration with the Trent House taught our students about self-sustainability through gardening. Students from Camp Grace enjoyed learning about cooking, sewing and baking with the 4-H Club.

Once again we were fortunate to partner with other area organizations: IslesPlay SoccerFirst Tee of TrentonHomeFrontEast Trenton Collaborative and  Mercer Street Friends. We value our collaborations!

And we must thank our donors who ensured we had the funding to support our three camps, our StreetLeaders and staff who worked through the summer with 122 kids who learned and HAD FUN! Thanks to Christine’s Hope for Kids and everyone who donated during our April event- RiseUPTrenton. Every donation made a difference to a child in Trenton.

Just wait until  Summer 2018! Together we can do what we cannot do alone!
